What kind of a maintenance schedule should I follow for my SA series transformer?

Equipment Required:

  1. Digital Multimeter
  2. Frequency Counter
  3. Oscilloscope

Transmitter - Every 6 Months

At Commissioning record P.A. Amps and P.A. Volts

  • Forward Power 100% (See Section 6.1.6)
  • P.A. Amps. At 100% power in CARR. Mode
    [25 Watt = 0.8 to 1.3 Amps]
    [50 Watt = 1.1 to 1.6 Amps]
    [100 Watt = 1.5 to 2.3 Amps]

  • Modulation % 90% (See Section 5.9)
  • The carrier frequency should be checked and adjusted (if needed) (Refer to section 6.1.2)
  • The Tone Key PWB should be check for 400 Hz or 1020 Hz (Refer to section 6.1.3)
  • The Keyer should be Checked and adjusted (if needed) (Refer to section 6.1.4)
  • Meters should be check and adjusted (if needed) (Refer to section 6.1.7)
  • The monitor PWB should be checked for half power, no tone, and Continuous shutdowns and adjusted (if needed) (Refer to section 6.1.10)
  • Check for water ingress

Coupler - Every 6 Months

At Commissioning record Coarse Taps, Fine Taps, Impedance, and Tuning Amps

  • Check Tuning Amps If different from initial setting refer to section 5.5
  • Check for water ingress

Antenna -

Every 6 Months

  • Tighten turnbuckles and down leads (where applicable)
  • Check for corrosion on all connections

Yearly

  • Polish all insulators and fiberglass with SAC silicon polish Part # 9P610001 (Note: This will be required more often in a high salinity environment.)
